City Road Conditions as of 8:45 a.m.
Published on Feb 13, 2021 09:07

The City of Plymouth Department of Municipal Services is working to clear roads and as of 8:45 a.m. most major streets in the City have been treated with a road salt and liquid brine solution.  This will help clear the streets of accumulating snow and break the bond of ice on the road surface.  Using liquid brine with road salt will help activate the road salt and make it more effective at today's lower temperatures.  As of 8:45 the temperature is 15 degrees and the high is only expected to go to 23 degrees.  Also, using brine and road salt together will help the Department to use less road salt in a storm event.

Be sure to give road crews plenty of room to work to make the roads safe.  For information on what it is like to operate a salt truck check out this video that was made earlier this year  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IQAXrBuO40

Drivers should expect additional traffic and pedestrians in Downtown Plymouth today as the Plymouth Ice Festival is taking place.  Just as a reminder, due to Covid there is no live ice carving taking place this year.   There are 80 individual ice sculptures placed on the sidewalks all around downtown Plymouth.  Please use extra caution when driving through downtown.

Residents and property owners are reminded to NOT push, blow or shovel snow into the streets.  Doing so, could cause a traffic hazard and create a liability for property owners.

Remember that Snow Equals Slow and please Don't Crowd the Plow.  Drive safe!  Persons with questions regarding this report should contact [email protected].
