City Road Conditions as of 6:15 a.m.
Published on Feb 15, 2021 06:22
The City of Plymouth has received less than an inch of snow overnight. City Municipal Services Crews are on duty and today they are using a combination of belly plowing, and using a brine/road salt combination on the City's Major Streets. Please give road crews room to do their job, don't crowd the plows.
Crews are using a brine solution to help activate the road salt. Using just road salt at today's temperatures would cause the city to use significant amounts of salt. By combining road salt with a liquid brine solution will cause the salt to be activated before it hits the road surface and as a result the City will use less road salt to address the snow and ice event.
At this time all streets in the City are snow covered and slick. Remember that snow equals slow. Take your time this morning and allow plenty of distance between you and the car in front of you. Bridges and overpasses on area freeways should always be considered slick as they will ice up faster than roadways, even after being treated with salt.
The National Weather Service is predicting significant snowfall during Monday's overnight hours into Tuesday morning. Department of Municipal Services crews are monitoring the storm and preparing for significant snow operations.
