City Commission Meeting Summary - April 5

The Plymouth City Commission authorized approximately $250,000 of Road Bond Revenues to be used on two intersection upgrades at its regular meeting held on Monday, April 5, 2021. The improvements would include pedestrian signal and mast arm upgrades at Harvey and Penniman, and Harvey and Ann Arbor Trail. The authorization is contingent on DDA approval of like amounts of money at its meeting scheduled for Monday, April 12.

The City Commission accepted a tentative contract agreement with the Department of Municipal Services' (DMS) union TPOAM. The four-year agreement will now need ratification from the union before being finalized.

The City Commission authorized the hire of a full-time DMS maintenance employee at Monday's meeting. The new employee will fill a vacancy left by a current employee's resignation.

The City Commission authorized an agreement with the State of Michigan to purchase road salt for the upcoming 2021-2022 season through MIDEAL. The City plans to contract for 1,000 tons of road salt as part of the agreement.

The City Commission approved a resolution of support for a proposed Beck Road Business Corridor improvement project between Six Mile Road and I-96. The City of Plymouth will not be participating financially in the proposed project.

Other items of note from Monday's meeting included the delivery of the 2021-2022 Budget to the City Commission. No City Commission action on the budget was needed at this time. Also, the City Commission approved three events; the Downtown Plymouth Spring Artisan Market to be held on April 24, the Old Village Yard and Trunk Sale on April 24, and the Wednesday Night Workouts to be held Wednesday evenings in Kellogg Park between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
