Published on Jul 20, 2021 19:11

The City Commission made several approvals for the 2021 Harvey Street construction project at its regular meeting held in Hough Park on Monday, July 19. Included was the authorization of many temporary and permanent easements, approval of the construction contract with Pro-Line Asphalt, and the approval of the new mast arms and pedestrian signals at both Ann Arbor Trail and Penniman. The project on Harvey between Ann Arbor Trail and Penniman is expected to begin in August. The mast arms and pedestrian signals aren't expected to be installed until spring of 2022 due to supply chain issues. Construction teams plan to meet with residents and businesses near the construction site over the next couple weeks.

The City Commission approved updates to the Planned Unit Development (PUD) during the second reading of proposed changes and amendments to the PUD agreement and rezoning of 550 N. Holbrook, the property commonly known as the Starkweather School development.

The City Commission authorized City administration to hire a full-time Deputy Finance Director/Deputy Treasurer. The authorization moves the position from three quarter-time to full-time.

Other items of note from Monday's meeting included the approval of Mayor Wolcott as the primary delegate for the MML's Annual meeting, with Commissioner Sebastian serving as the alternate.
