Central Parking Deck Construction Project Begins Next Week
Published on May 12, 2023 13:47

The 2023 Central Parking Deck major renovation project is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 15. Construction will include significant concrete repairs, column repairs, drainage repairs and sealant upgrades. Approximately ½ of the parking spots will be unavailable in the deck during the construction project. Additional public parking has been secured at the Christian Science Church located at 1100 W. Ann Arbor Trail. Time limits will not be enforced at the church. All other time limits in the Central Parking Deck and all other areas of the downtown will be enforced during the project.

There will be three phases to the project, with work shifting to different areas of the deck during each phase. At times, alternate entrances and exits may be utilized to the lower level of the deck. Please follow signage and use caution in and around the work zone. The project is expected to take approximately seven weeks to complete, depending on weather conditions and supply of materials. A majority of the work is expected to be completed by July 4. Access to the western stairwell near the medical center is expected to be available through the entirety of the project.

This week, crews have been working on some additional repairs to the new stairs on the eastern side of the deck. It is possible that the stairs may remain closed through the weekend and into early next week. Please do not attempt to move the barricades as the stairwell is not safe to use while the barricades are in place.

Although it will be a messy inconvenience over the next several weeks, this maintenance is essential for the safety of our visitors and to optimize the longevity of the parking deck.

The Plymouth DDA will provide updates on the project as they become available. Please check the DDA’s Facebook page and www.downtownplymouth.org for updates. Questions or concerns should be directed to [email protected].
