ELECTION DEADLINES FOR ABSENT VOTER BALLOTS

Tuesday, October 24, 2023

Voter registration in person only in the Clerk’s office began on this date.  

Must bring proper documentation for eligibility and residency. (see below)

 

Proof of Eligibility:

A Michigan resident (at the time you register) and a resident of your city or township for at least 30 days (when you vote)

A United States citizen

At least 18 years of age (when you vote)

Not currently serving a sentence in jail or prison

 

Proof of residency:

You must show proof of where you live. Documents must have your name and current address. You can show a digital copy of documents. Acceptable documents include:

 

Michigan driver’s license or state ID

Current utility bill

Bank statement

Paycheck or government check

Other government document

Friday, November 3, 2023  5:00 PM:

· Last day the Clerk’s office can mail out absent voter ballots.

· Last day for electors who have returned their absent voter ballot to submit a written request to spoil their absent voter ballot and receive a new absent voter ballot in the Clerk’s office.   

· Last day for electors who have lost their absent voter ballot or not yet received their absent voter ballot in the mail to submit a written request to spoil their absent voter ballot and receive a new absent voter ballot in the Clerk’s office or by mail.

Monday, November 6, 2023  4:00 PM:

Last day for electors who have lost their absent voter ballot or not yet received their absent voter ballot in the mail to submit a written request to spoil their absent voter ballot and receive a new absent voter ballot in the Clerk’s office only. Ballots received in the Clerk’s office on this day must also be voted in the Clerk’s office at that time.  

Tuesday, November 7, 2023  4:00 PM (Election Day):

Last day for emergency absent voting. Request must be made in writing. See MCL 168.759b for additional details. (Begins Friday 11/3/2023 at 5:00 PM)

Tuesday, November 7, 2023  8:00 PM (Election Day):

Election Day registrants may obtain and vote an absent voter ballot in person in the Clerk’s office or register at the Clerk’s office and then vote in person at their polling location. If voting in person, registrants must allow themselves enough time to register and then travel to and arrive at polling location before closing of polls.  (Polls close at 8:00 PM)
