Memorial Day Parade Info & Advanced Notice of Road Closures

Please be advised that there will be a Memorial Day Parade on Main Street between Wing and Church Streets.  As a result of this event there will be some road closures on Monday, May 27, 2024, starting at approximately 8:00 a.m. and until the conclusion of Veterans activities the following streets will be CLOSED.

* MAIN STREET - Between Wing Street and Union Street
* CHURCH STREET - Between Adams and Union Street
* Ann Arbor Trail - At Main Street - No access across or onto Main Street
* Penniman - At Main Street - No access across or onto Main Street

Drivers can expect the area around Veterans Park at Main and Church to remain secured and closed to traffic during the Veterans Ceremony, that immediately follows the parade and will reopen upon the conclusion of the events at the Veterans Park.

A tribute to veterans will begin at 9:00 am with a parade that starts at the corner of Wing Street and Main Street, and terminates at the Plymouth Veterans Memorial Park at the corner of Main Street and Church Street in downtown Plymouth, across the street from the Plymouth Historical Museum. This is the first parade scheduled since Covid-19 forced the City of Plymouth to alter the traditional Memorial Day parade.

At the conclusion of the parade, there will be a short ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park. The Master of Ceremonies will be Lieutenant Colonel Krista McKinley, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired).  Guest speaker will be Colonel Charles Cone, U.S. Air Force (Retired). Cone is a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam war, having been a pilot in all three conflicts.

After the ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, attendees will be invited to Plymouth?s VFW Post #6695 for hot dogs, chips, and refreshments.
