Proposal 2022-2 amended the Michigan Constitution to include a voter’s right
to receive updates on the status of their absent voter (AV) ballot applications
and ballots, including by electronic notification.
While status
updates for this have been and continue to be available to voters on Michigan.gov/Vote, an electronic notification system is now available for the 2024 November election and beyond!
Voters can now
subscribe to receive electronic notifications at Michigan.gov/Vote directly,
when registering to vote, or when submitting an online AV application. Voters
will then receive emails when the status of their AV application or ballot is
updated.
Here are the key points of information you should know:
- Voters can now sign up for email notifications on the
status of their AV Ballots and applications through
Michigan.gov/Vote.
- Once subscribed, voters will be notified of all the
following:
- When their AV ballot or
application has been received by their local clerk,
- When their AV ballot
has been sent by their local clerk,
- If their AV ballot or
application has been rejected for any deficiency,
- Instructions for how the voter can remedy a deficiency to have their AV ballot or application
accepted.
- Once a voter has subscribed, they will receive an email
every time their AV ballot or application status is changed).
- If the voter wishes to be removed from the electronic
notification list, the voter must
unsubscribe themselves either by following the “unsubscribe” link in the
email, or by visiting Michigan.gov/Vote.
- Whether subscribed or not, voters will continue to be able to see status updates
on their AV ballot or application by visiting Michigan.gov/Vote.
