Players cannot "play down" in a younger division
**U5 and U6 age divisions may be combined if there are not enough players to create their own division. Boys and girls would still remain in separate divisions.
Severe Weather During the Soccer Season:
• Any practices canceled due to severe weather are determined by the head coach. Please contact your head coach with any questions about practices
• Any game cancellations or postponements due to weather / field conditions on City of Plymouth fields will be sent directly to each team's head coach. The head coach will then forward the status to the team members.
• Any cancellations for WSSL (9U – 12U) away games are determined by the home club. It is the WSSL home club's responsibility to notify the away team's head coach of any cancellations or postponements. The head coach then contacts their team members.
Frequently Asked Questions
For the Spring 2025 season, games can begin as early as Saturday, April 5 and can run through Sunday, June 15. Practices can begin up to three week before games.
When are games?
All divisions U7 and older play primarily on weekends but may have an occasional mid-week game. Saturday and Sunday games can be from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mid-week games generally begin at 6:00 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., unless requested differently by the coach.
The U5 & U6 soccer program can be held on Saturdays or Sundays but games can be moved to a weeknight depending on any rain-outs or coach scheduling conflicts.
When do they practice?
For U7 & older divisions, practice days and fields are determined by the Practice Field Draw held at the general coaches meeting. The time is determined by the coach’s availability.
For the U5 & U6 programs, the coaches have the option of practicing before their scheduled game or practicing during a weeknight.
When will I be notified that I my child has been placed on a team?
The coaches will call the players approximately two to three weeks before the season starts. Coaches receive their rosters at the general coaches meeting, held three to four weeks prior to the season starting.
Are uniforms included in the registration fee?
Game jersey and socks are included in the registration fee. Parents must supply shorts, shin guards and cleats (cleats not required). Players registered in the fall use the same jersey for a “Soccer Year” (Both Fall and Spring seasons).
New players in the Spring (non-returning Fall players) will be charged an additional single season uniform fee during the Spring registration process.
How are teams determined?
Fall Seasons - All returning coaches are allowed to request players from their previous seasons team as long as the parents request to be back on that team. Once those players are chosen, an age group coordinator places the remaining players or forms new teams and the rosters are sent to ALL the coach in the division for approval. Due to State Association mandated roster maximums, requests can be made but not guaranteed.
Spring Seasons - The spring season is a continuation of the fall. Teams created from the fall remain together unless there are specific requests. New players for the spring season will fill any holes on existing teams or will form new teams.
For the possible exceptions to the rules on team placement, please read the Plymouth Recreation Youth Soccer Policies.
I live in Plymouth Township or have a Plymouth mailing address, why do I pay more?
At this time, because no Plymouth Township taxes are put toward recreation services, Plymouth Township residents and persons that live in Northville with Plymouth mailing addresses do not qualify for the lower City of Plymouth resident rates. City of Plymouth residents contribute to the support the City of Plymouth Recreation Department through their property taxes; therefore, they receive a discounted rate.
What is the City Refund Policy for Youth Soccer?
All requests to drop from the program will be processed with the following fee structure:
- Requesting to drop prior to the upcoming season's registration deadline - $15.00 cancellation fee
- Requesting to drop after the registration deadline but more than 30 days prior to the first possible game date of the season - $50.00 cancellation fee
- Requesting to drop within 30 days of the first possible game date of the season – no refund
- After a select player / parent signs a WSSL contract for the remainder of the MSYSA Soccer Year – no refund
If the season is cancelled by the City Recreation Department, a full refund will be issued.
